1 KB is 1,024 bytes and 1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes. If a form uses decimal bytes, choose a slightly lower target.

Preparing larger photos under 500KB

A 500KB budget often leaves room for a larger photograph than lower upload limits, although highly detailed scenes may still need compression. Start with Auto dimensions if your destination has no fixed pixel requirement.

Compare the original and result at the size people will view them. WEBP can be worth trying for a supported website, while JPG may suit a form that explicitly requires JPEG. Format compatibility takes priority over a small difference in file size.

Why did my image remain unchanged under 500KB?

An image already below the limit can be returned unchanged when its format and dimensions meet the request. This preserves its existing quality instead of re-encoding without a useful reduction.

Is the downloaded file exactly the selected number of bytes?

No. Your entry is an upper limit. DocsReady never adds padding to hit an exact byte count; a smaller result is valid.

Why did my pixel dimensions change?
