How to compress an image to a specific KB size

1 KB is 1,024 bytes and 1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes. If a form uses decimal bytes, choose a slightly lower target.

Choose the maximum size accepted by your destination. Quality is adjusted first, then dimensions only if necessary. Use JPG for photo uploads that require it; a smaller result is valid and is never padded to hit an exact byte count.

Is the downloaded file exactly the selected number of bytes?
No. Your entry is an upper limit. DocsReady never adds padding to hit an exact byte count; a smaller result is valid.
Why did my pixel dimensions change?
If lowering quality cannot reach the budget, this tool reduces dimensions while preserving proportions. Compare the final dimensions with your upload requirements.
Can a detailed photograph fit every small limit?
Very small budgets can require visible quality loss or smaller dimensions. The tool reports an error if it cannot produce a valid output within its safety limits.
